I couldn't catch the exact details and I have searched online for more updated reports but there were none so far. So here's the main gist out of the news report that I can remember:
- The lady observed how her sister turned yellowish and frail after staying in the nursing home.
- She also discovered that her sister had suffered from numerous head and back sores.
- Her sister always got agitated and angry whenever she saw the nursing staff. (She lost her ability to speak due to some illness that I can't remember.. so she could only expressed through her facial expressions)
- The lady realised that the nursing home has been feeding expired nutritional milk to her sister.
- She was furious and lodged a complaint to the nursing home.
- The nursing home admitted to its mistake and claimed to not have realised that it has expired. The management has also apologized to her in a letter of apology.
- The lady also sent her sister to a hospital for a thorough check-up and deemed that the nursing home has mistreated her sister resulting in the series of sores.
- The lady transferred her sister to another nursing home.
So yup, IMO, I think the nursing home should seriously reflect on the way how they are handling and treating their patients. Ministry of Health (MOH) has also banned Nightingale Nursing Home from accepting patients until further notice.
